Mission

ELT Vista exists to promote the personal and professional growth of educators—especially English language teachers—through humanistic, reflective, and learner-centered practices.
Our mission is to help teachers rediscover purpose and creativity in their work, encouraging classrooms that honor empathy, authenticity, and the shared humanity of both teacher and learner.
About ELT Vista
We are a project-based organization with a network of international affiliates, headed and founded by Jay Leonard Schwartz, teacher trainer, author, and consultant. Now based in the United States (originally established in Greece), the project has been engaged in language teaching, materials development, and professional training for more than thirty years.
What We Do
- Teacher-Training and Professional Development
We now offer an online teacher-training course, the ELT Vista Certificate in Humanistic TESOL Teaching, focused on humanistic methodology, reflective teaching, and teacher self-actualization.
- Publications
Our publication What About the Teacher? provides the conceptual grounding for much of our current work and serves as the course text for the ELT Vista Certificate in Humanistic TESOL Teaching. It reflects our long-standing commitment to teacher development, reflective practice, and creativity.
Additional publications are planned for future release.
- Articles and Resources
ELT Vista also prepares and publishes articles for TESOL teachers and English-learning materials that connect language education with social awareness—addressing themes such as climate change, ecology, and global citizenship.
Beyond publications, ELT Vista promotes community, collaboration, and continuous learning through research, workshops, and international partnerships that bring together educators devoted to meaningful and ethical teaching.
Our History

ELT Vista originated as a professional periodical for teachers and a project of ELTzone Network, founded in 1999 in Greece to support those involved in EFL, ESL, TESOL, and TEFL programs. ELTzone specialized in materials development, educational consulting for language schools, social activism, and the organization of teacher-training seminars and conferences. Like its predecessor, ELT Vista continues to champion cooperation among educators who seek to improve not only their professional practice but also the quality of life for the communities they serve.
